तीन विकल्प Three options

बहुत समय पहले की बात है , किसी गाँव में एक किसान रहता था. उस किसान की एक बहुत ही सुन्दर बेटी थी. दुर्भाग्यवश, गाँव के जमींदार से उसने बहुत सारा धन उधार लिया हुआ था. जमीनदार बूढा और कुरूप था. 

A long time ago, a farmer lived in a village.  That farmer had a very beautiful daughter.  Unfortunately, he had borrowed a lot of money from the village zamindar.  The landowner was old and ugly.

किसान की सुंदर बेटी को देखकर उसने सोचा क्यूँ न कर्जे के बदले  किसान के सामने उसकी बेटी से विवाह का प्रस्ताव रखा जाये.

Seeing the beautiful daughter of the farmer, he thought why instead of loan, the proposal of marriage of his daughter should be made in front of the farmer.

जमींदार किसान के पास गया और उसने कहा – तुम अपनी बेटी का विवाह मेरे साथ कर दो, बदले में मैं तुम्हारा सारा कर्ज माफ़ कर दूंगा . जमींदार की बात सुन कर किसान और किसान की बेटी के होश उड़ गए

The zamindar went to the farmer and he said - you marry your daughter with me, in return I will forgive all your debt.  After listening to the landlord, the farmer and the daughter of the farmer were blown away.

तब जमींदार ने कहा –चलो गाँव की पंचायत के पास चलते हैं और जो निर्णय वे लेंगे उसे हम दोनों को ही मानना होगा.वो सब मिल कर पंचायत के पास गए और उन्हें सब कह सुनाया. उनकी बात सुन कर पंचायत ने थोडा सोच विचार किया और कहा-

Then the zamindar said - Let us go to the village panchayat and we will have to accept the decision that they will take. They all went to the panchayat and told them all.  After listening to him, the panchayat thought a little and said-

ये मामला बड़ा उलझा हुआ है अतः हम इसका फैसला किस्मत पर छोड़ते हैं . जमींदार सामने पड़े सफ़ेद और काले रोड़ों के ढेर से एक काला और एक सफ़ेद रोड़ा उठाकर एक थैले में रख देगा फिर लड़की बिना देखे उस थैले से एक रोड़ा उठाएगी, और उस आधार पर उसके पास तीन विकल्प होंगे :

This matter is very complicated, so we leave it to fate.  The zamindar will pick up a black and white snag from a pile of white and black ballasts in a bag and then put it in a bag without seeing it, and on that basis she will have three options:

१. अगर वो काला रोड़ा उठाती है तो उसे जमींदार से शादी करनी पड़ेगी और उसके पिता का कर्ज माफ़ कर दिया जायेगा.

1.  If she raises a black hole, she will have to marry the landlord and her father's debt will be forgiven.

२. अगर वो सफ़ेद पत्थर उठती है तो उसे जमींदार से शादी नहीं करनी पड़ेगी और उसके पिता का कर्फ़ भी माफ़ कर दिया जायेगा.

2.  If that white stone arises, then she will not have to marry the landlord and the curfew of her father will also be forgiven.

३. अगर लड़की पत्थर उठाने से मना करती है तो उसके पिता को जेल भेज दिया जायेगा।

3.  If the girl refuses to lift the stone, then her father will be sent to jail.

पंचायत के आदेशानुसार जमींदार झुका और उसने दो रोड़े उठा लिए . जब वो रोड़ा उठा रहा था तो तब तेज आँखों वाली किसान की बेटी ने देखा कि उस जमींदार ने दोनों काले रोड़े ही उठाये हैं और उन्हें थैले में डाल दिया है।

As per the order of the panchayat, the zamindar bowed and he picked up two ballasts.  While he was picking the snag, the farmer's daughter with sharp eyes saw that the landlord had picked up both the black ballasts and put them in the bag.

लड़की इस स्थिति से घबराये बिना सोचने लगी कि वो क्या कर सकती है , उसे तीन रास्ते नज़र आये:

The girl started thinking about what she could do without being afraid of this situation, she saw three ways:

१. वह रोड़ा उठाने से मना कर दे और अपने पिता को जेल जाने दे.

1.  He refuses to take the impetus and let his father go to jail.

२. सबको बता दे कि जमींदार दोनों काले पत्थर उठा कर सबको धोखा दे रहा हैं.

2.  Let everyone know that the landlord is cheating everyone by raising black stones.

३. वह चुप रह कर काला पत्थर उठा ले और अपने पिता को कर्ज से बचाने के लिए जमींदार से शादी करके अपना जीवन बलिदान कर दे.

3.  He should pick up the black stone in silence and sacrifice his life by marrying the landlord to save his father from debt.

उसे लगा कि दूसरा तरीका सही है, पर तभी उसे एक और भी अच्छा उपाय सूझा , उसने थैले में अपना हाथ डाला और एक रोड़ा अपने हाथ में ले लिया . और बिना रोड़े की तरफ देखे उसके हाथ से फिसलने का नाटक किया, उसका रोड़ा अब हज़ारों रोड़ों के ढेर में गिर चुका था और उनमे ही कहीं खो चुका था .

He felt that the other way is right, but then he thought of an even better solution, he put his hand in the bag and took a snag in his hand.  And pretended to slip from his hand without looking at the balloon, his ball had now fallen into a pile of thousands of obstacles and had lost itself somewhere in them.

लड़की ने कहा – हे भगवान ! मैं कितनी फूहड़ हूँ . लेकिन कोई बात नहीं .आप लोग थैले के अन्दर देख लीजिये कि कौन से रंग का रोड़ा बचा है , तब आपको पता चल जायेगा कि मैंने कौन सा उठाया था जो मेरे हाथ से गिर गया.

The girl said - Oh my God!  I am such a slut.  But no problem. You see inside the bag what color of the ball is left, then you will know which one I had picked up which fell from my hand.

थैले में बचा हुआ रोड़ा काला था , सब लोगों ने मान लिया कि लड़की ने सफ़ेद पत्थर ही उठाया  था.जमींदार के अन्दर इतना साहस नहीं था कि वो अपनी चोरी मान ले .लड़की ने अपनी सोच से असम्भव को संभव कर दिया.

The rest of the bag in the bag was black, everyone assumed that the girl had picked up the white stone. The landowner did not have enough courage to admit his theft. The girl made the impossible possible with her thinking.

मित्रों, हमारे जीवन में भी कई बार ऐसी परिस्थितियां आ जाती हैं जहाँ सबकुछ धुंधला दीखता है, हर रास्ता नाकामयाबी की और जाता महसूस होता है पर ऐसे समय में यदि हम परमपरा से हट कर सोचने का प्रयास करें तो उस लड़की की तरह अपनी मुशिकलें दूर कर सकते हैं.
